Frequently asked

Auryn FAQ.

Quick, honest answers about Auryn — the travel logging and travel map app for iOS. If your question isn't here, email hello@auryn.travel.

The basics

What is Auryn?

Auryn is a travel logging app where each memory is a pin on your world map, anchored to verified coordinates (GPS capture, anchored place search, or a photo-assisted flow). Alongside pins you get captions, badges, lifetime stats, a chronological friend-aware feed, global/city Explore, three map lenses, and moderation tools.

What is Auryn good for?
How do I keep a travel log on iPhone?

Open Auryn, walk the guided pin wizard at each memorable stop (free accounts can keep up to ten pins with up to three photos each), save captions/tags, tune privacy when you publish. Subscribe to Pro for unlimited pins plus batch library import and Trip boards.

Is there a travel journal app that uses GPS?

Yes — Auryn is a GPS-first travel journal. Every pin is verified by your device's GPS at the moment of capture, so the resulting journal and map reflect places you actually went.

Can Auryn track all the countries I've visited?

Yes. Auryn maintains a live count of countries, cities, and continents you've pinned, with badges that unlock as you hit milestones.

Pricing & platforms

Is Auryn free?

Yes. Free includes up to ten lifetime pins per account, up to three photos per pin, journaling, badges, stats, friendships, chronological feed surfaces, Explore, three map lenses, standard map styling.

Auryn Pro removes the pin cap (unlimited pins), raises photo limits (up to ten per pin), unlocks the Trips workspace, scripted bulk imports from geotagged library photos, designer PNG exporters for pins and trips, globe + year recap, short pin videos, optional weather payloads when available, extra basemap/marker/highlights/alternate-app-icon personalization. Billing runs through Apple/Google — see Terms.

How much does Auryn Pro cost?

Apple and Google charge your account — Auryn surfaces the SKU list inside the Upgrade screen. Typical offers include recurring monthly vs annual tiers; localized currency appears at checkout. Manage renewals via Subscriptions in iOS Settings or the Play Store; refund requests follow each platform's policies (also summarized in Terms, Section 9).

What platforms does Auryn run on?

Auryn is free on the iOS App Store. Android is planned.

Where can I download Auryn?

Download Auryn free on the iOS App Store.

Privacy & data

Does Auryn track me in the background?

No. Auryn only uses location when you drop a pin or import a geotagged photo. There is no always-on background tracking. See the privacy policy for the full details.

Are my pins public by default?

No. Pins start with conservative visibility (FRIENDS or stricter presets depending on onboarding). Widening audience to fully public journeys is deliberate and per-pin/trip scoped.

Does Auryn sell my data?

No. Auryn does not sell personal or location data, ever.

How do I delete my Auryn account?

From within the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Account deletion removes your pins, trips, and personal data per the privacy policy.

How it works

Can I import past trips and photos?

Bulk library sweeps driven by GPS EXIF are part of Auryn Pro. Anyone on Free can still attach geotagged photos inside the wizard one pin at a time.

What share cards does Auryn offer?

Passport, polaroid-style, boarding-pass, and film-strip layouts render portrait PNG artwork sized for Stories. Opening the exporters requires Auryn Pro.

What are Auryn travel badges?

The app awards roughly 24 reconciled badges for breadth (countries touched, continental ladders), thematic regions, revisit behavior, richly photographed arcs, Polar/Tropic feats, EQUATOR crossings, streak weeks — silently, no leaderboard.

How does Auryn compare to other travel logging apps?

Auryn invests in truthful coordinates plus calm surfaces before flashy feeds. Serious storytelling tools (trip boards, scripted imports, exporters, globe choreography) deliberately sit behind Pro so casual pinners aren't charged for cinematic extras they rarely touch.
